The TopDutch Weekend Guide 20-22nd of September

Wow! We’re over halfway through September already, and we’ve started to tell. The TopDutch wind has been blowing a little stronger (good news for our wind farms at least!) and we’ve dug out our fall jackets. But, wait. The weekend is here, and the sun is set to shine down on us again - whilst the cultural season is in full swing. No more series-binging, it’s time to go out and explore TopDutch’s weekend offerings.

For the green and white army

FC Groningen vs PEC Zwolle

The Pride of the North (FC Groningen) are warming up for their home ground Premier League match against PEC Zwolle on Saturday. Whether you’re joining in the stadium, or watching with your mates down the pub, the atmosphere is set to be buzzing across the TopDutch region: so start warming up your vocal cords now.
Where? Hitachi Capital Stadium. When? 21st of September, 19:45

For the kids

11 Cities Bouncy Tour

No view is quite as exciting for our youngsters as the sheen of brightly colored, blown-up, bouncy plastic. No wonder the annual ’11 cities bouncy castle tour’, where kids get to jump through 11 bouncy inflatables to win the prize of a special medal and ice cream draws in 500 young TopDutch’ers every year. And whilst the kids are playing, the adults can enjoy some traditional TopDutch culture at the Sneek Shanty Festival, which is going on at the same time.
Where? Across Sneek, starting at Schaapmarktplein. When? 21st of September.

For the petrol heads

British Superbikes Championships

Lo! The British are coming! The TT Circuit in Assen is again hosting the best of British for the British Superbikes Championships Showdown, the only race in the competition that is being held abroad. Expect danger, beauty and excitement. We hold no responsibility for any loss of breath you may experience.
Where? TT Circuit Assen. When? 22nd of September.

For the community minded

The Rodermarkt

One of the oldest traditions in the TopDutch region is the Rodermarkt, which dates back all the way to 1727. Starting as a simple cattle market, it’s evolved to be one of the biggest community parties in the North. These days, around 10,000 TopDutch citizens descend on the town of Roden to experience the best of the TopDutch region in terms of food, music, fashion and community spirit. It kicks off on Friday afternoon with music and the official opening of the trade fair, however we’d recommend taking the Saturday and experiencing the beautifully decorated cars intertwined with big bands in the Rodermarkt parade.
Where? Roden City Center and Jaarbeurs Roden. When? 20th – 25th of September.

For the music lovers

Kadepop

Another week, another festival in the TopDutch region. This weekend’s choice? Kadepop. In one of Groningen’s hippest venues, the Sugar Factory, you’ll find a the coolest mix of established and emerging talent from the TopDutch region and afar; excellent food; comedy; performing arts and this year, even watersports!
Where? Suikerunie Grounds. When? 21st of September.
