The TopDutch region is a good place to live, but it can always be better. Let’s Gro Festival is held in the city of Groningen, to inspire and bring together locals for the future of the city and the region. For four days, there will be lectures, masterclasses and events for all sorts of topics; from sustainability to talent. There’s for sure something to get everyone thinking, including a wide range of events tailored to internationals.

Our University of Groningen’s Campus Fryslân has moved to their new building, the Beurs, and are inviting everyone to help them celebrate. The official grand opening is on Thursday, but on Saturday they’re holding a Science Fair, with open lectures in English and Dutch, and for the young scientists all sorts of fun to kick-start a love of science.

Sustainability Center Assen
For the younger generation of eco-warriors, there’s all sorts of fun activities at the Duurzaamheid Centrum (Sustainability Center) in Assen this week. Is there a dolly that’s no longer at their best? Kids can take them to the Toy Doctor, so they don’t have to be thrown out. And it’s coming up to Sinterklaas, but that doesn’t mean buying even more toys; recycle them together at the Recycle Sint event. Check out their whole agenda on their website.

The oldest organized run in Groningen, the Plantsoenloop, is back this weekend. Taking place in, you guessed it, the Noorderplantsoen, it brings together young and old, with distances from 1km to 8km. A perfect way to enjoy the beautiful fall weather this weekend.

Art Month Ameland
The first of November marks the start of Art Month on the island of Ameland. Enjoy all sorts of different types of art, from textiles to sculptures to photography, across a number of locations on the island. Sea air, and beautiful art, what more could you want?

Open Business Day Hoogeveen
Have you ever wondered what goes on behind closed door in our local bakeries, factories and offices? The Open Business Day in the bustling industrial town of Hoogeveen shows 20,000 visitors each year the answer. Maybe you’re younger one is interested in a particular career? Or you’re just curious about the local talent? 20-30 businesses will be open, to explore what they do and how they work.
