The team of scientists and tech entrepreneurs behind ZiuZ Medical

Over the past few years, the team at ZiuZ Medical, alongside scientists from the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) and the Leeuwarden Medical Center (MCL) have been working on projects to improve diagnostics through the use of image recognition technology. Our friends at Northern Knowledge spoke to Gerrit Baarda, owner of ZiuZ.

About the project

Better diagnosis with image recognition

Entrepreneur Gerrit Baarda of image recognition technology firm developed, together with his team, a highly specialized technology. At first, the image recognition technology was only leveraged for one – albeit very worthy – cause, the detection of child abuse cases for use by the police. But this socially-minded entrepreneur was determined to develop his company to solve even more global challenges. So, he got together with the talented medical scientists at two of the major medical centers in the TopDutch region, and got to work helping doctors and patients.
